Branch Meetings, Functions and Events for 2009

As you all know, I sent a questionnaire to all non-serving branch members at the end of August 2008.  The main purpose of this questionnaire was to get a consensus of opinion of what type of functions the branch members wanted. 

Although I provided a S.A.E with each questionnaire, I only received 27 back out of 50.  To all those who took the time and effort to fill in and return the questionnaire “THANK YOU”.  As questionnaires go it was straight forward and not complicated to fill in, so I expected more to be returned.  This leaves me to believe that branch members have not kept the Branch Secretary (Brian Ridley) informed of their current address or the questionnaires have been lost in the postal system “which I find hard to believe for the number not returned”.  For those members who did receive the questionnaire but have not returned it you have had your chance.  So no moaning please if the functions are not to your liking.  

I have received notes of appreciation on the questionnaires returned thanking me for my hard work in organising functions and that the questionnaire was a very good idea, working on the response from these 27 questionnaires I have produced a calendar of branch meeting, function and events for 2009.  This calendar was finalised at the January branch meeting. 

Notes

      All Branch Meetings, will be held on the 2^nd Tuesday of each month at The Royal British Legion, Edlington starting at 1930hrs.

      Day Trips, there will be a cost for these for the transport and entrance fee (where applicable).

      Entertainment at functions, wherever possible the branch funds will contribute to the functions but members might be asked to make a small contribution for the entertainment.  This will depend on branch funds available at the time.

      Social Functions, will be held at Club 39 (except the Regimental Dinner).  The venue “Club 39 as some of you know is very comfortable, centrally located “Doncaster Town Centre” provides very good food at a reasonable price, refreshments below town prices and is accessible to all.

      Raffles, wherever possible I will be holding a raffle at the social function to help with covering the cost and / or to raise money for the branch funds.  These raffles will depend on donations I receive or what I can get from the branch funds.  So any donations through out the year will be gratefully received.  If you have any unwanted gifts or spare bottles of refreshment lying around bring them to branch meetings, you could also ask your friends and family if they have any.

      As I have said before the functions are for you the Branch Members the more members attend the better the functions.  So come on!!  Make the effort to attend as many as possible. Functions will only go ahead if enough people attend.  It also goes without saying if you have an idea for a function let me know.

      Definition of Partner: Someone who is man and wife, is classed as living together, or in a civil partnership. 

      Approximate Costing Per Person (pp)

      £5 - £8    For the Buffet

      £4 - £5    For Pie and Peas

      £10 -£15 For Informal Dinner (Two course)

      £2 - £5    Towards the Entertainment (will depend on the number attending)

      £10 - £12 For the Transport (will depend on the number attending) 

The above costing are approximate figures only, but I can not see them being more than the higher figure and it is for each person attending.  It will be decided at a branch meeting with the members attending prior to the event if the branch is to contribute to the cost for transport or entertainment.

Final numbers and payment for all functions will be required no later than two weeks before the date of the function

But the Sooner the Better as some events numbers are limited
