Coldstream Guards

17 Company

Number 17 Company is the recently established Reserve Company of the Coldstream, based in Hammersmith and under the command of the 1st Battalion The London Guards. The men and women of 17 Company live, work and soldier primarily in the City of London and surrounding areas and come from a diverse set of personal and professional backgrounds. Previously as F Company 7 RIFLES, they have a long and established history within the Army Reserve and Territorial Army, most notably as part of the Queen Victoria Rifles where their antecedents took part in the defence of the Siege of Calais, the vital terrain that enabled the evacuation of Dunkirk. More recently on Operations in Afghanistan and Iraq, the Company had the highest statistics of mobilised infanteers consistently, vying only with B Company, 4th Battalion the Parachute Regiment.

On May 1st 2022, they swapped their green jackets for red tunics, and embraced the customs and traditions of the Coldstream Guards, as part of the formal establishment of a Guards Reserve. The moment was appropriately marked at their annual black tie Calais Ball which was attended by the Coldstream Lieutenant Colonel, Colonel T Till MBE and Deputy Commandant Rifles.
